Edmond Memorial SWINE Week
2024 Recipient: Peaceful Family Oklahoma
Edmond Memorial students raised $332,892 during 2024 SWINE Week! All of the money raised will go directly to Peaceful Family Oklahoma, which strives to bring help, hope, and healing to children impacted by addiction in their families.
What is SWINE Week?
Edmond Memorial High School’s enduring tradition of community service, Swine Week, traces its origins back to 1986 when a compassionate group of students rallied to raise funds for a friend in dire need of a kidney transplant. The initiative gained momentum with the backing of the principal, who supported the cause and committed to kissing a pig in a memorable act of solidarity. The inaugural event successfully raised $3,000, marking the inception of Swine Week.
Fast forward 37 years, and the students of EMHS have collectively amassed over $8 million in charitable contributions. In the previous year alone, an impressive $361,333 was raised for The HopeHouse OKC. Swine Week’s financial support significantly helped with their building campaign to provide safe, stable housing for families experiencing homelessness.
As we set our sights on the fundraising goals for 2024, we invite you to be a part of this impactful tradition. EMHS students have graciously devoted their time & money to help those in need. Please support us in reaching our goal and making our principal kiss a pig, a tradition since 1986.
