EPS has had several inclement weather days so far this school year; January 14 (Covid related), February 2, 3, 4 23, 24, 25, and March 11.

On four of the days, school was canceled and remote instruction was not required. The District had two days built into the school calendar for these types of days, so to meet the state law required 1080 hours of yearly instruction, two of the early February days have to be made up.

Originally, the district planned to add the two days to the end of the calendar which would have changed the last day of school from Friday, May 20 to Tuesday, May 24. However, the district heard from many families that already had booked non-refundable travel plans or scheduled other family events the week beginning May 23.

Instead, a different plan was approved with the following calendar revisions:

April 15 is a Remote Learning Day

Day 1 – Changing Friday, April 15, or “April Day” on the school calendar from a holiday to an asynchronous remote learning day for all students. Asynchronous learning means that students will not be required to “check in” at a certain time on Friday and will have a window of time to complete their work. April Day 2022 Parent Info

Day 2 – Add 10 minutes of instructional time (5 minutes at the beginning of the day and 5 minutes at the end of the day) to each school day, beginning Monday, March 21. The minutes gained would make up for a lost instructional day.
