Dear Edmond Families and EPS Staff,

I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather and anticipating a fun, relaxing Fall Break. Like many of you, I love this time of year, and especially enjoy observing our students hitting their stride and engaging in deeper academic work.

As we transition to the second nine weeks of school, I promised that I would review our mask policy. If you have been watching our numbers, you know that Covid positives are dropping. For the last week in September and the first week in October we were holding at the .3% positive case rate.  This week we have been in the .2% range all week.  However, the positive case percentage has not remained below .1% for 10 consecutive school days, which is the threshold the district set to initiate mask procedure changes. We are getting closer, but we are not there.

Therefore, the district will continue to require masks for students and staff who have not opted out of the requirement for medical, religious, or personal reasons.  I will communicate again when we have hit the .1% marker and let you know when we are getting close to removing the mask mandate.
