Dear Parents/Guardians and EPS Staff,

I want to keep you apprised of what you may be following on the news or social media. Earlier today, a judge declined to issue an emergency injunction preventing Edmond Public Schools from following the guidance of the Oklahoma City-County Health Department requiring quarantines following close contact to a positive Case of Covid-19.

What does this mean for you? The judge’s decision means that the district’s quarantine guidance will remain unchanged for now: Per OCCHD, anyone who has been exposed to a Covid-19 positive and has not received a Covid-19 vaccine or tested Covid-19 positive in the last 90 days will be required to complete a 7-Day or 10-Day quarantine.

Our data shows that quarantines and masks are helping to reduce the number of positive cases in our schools. Since we changed to masks required, the ratio of positive cases to quarantines has gone from 1:5 to 1:3. We monitor our positive cases and quarantines on a daily basis and look forward to the day quarantines, and eventually, masks can end.

We would like to thank our students, parents, and staff for working with us as we navigate the frequent Covid related issues and challenges before us. As I have stated several times before, it is my goal to keep students in school and keep them safe.

Remember, if you have questions that cannot be answered by a school site, please contact us at Covid19@edmondschools.net.

Sincerely,

Superintendent Signature
