Swine Week, March 8th-12th, is just around the corner. For those of you who are unfamiliar, Swine Week is Edmond Memorial’s annual philanthropy week that began in 1986 when a small group of students decided to raise money for a friend in need. The students approached the principal, who supported the endeavor and even agreed to kiss a pig if $3,000 was raised. The students successfully raised the money, the principal kissed a pig, and the rest is history.
This year, EMHS selected Keaton’s Kindness Foundation. Born out of personal loss, K Club works to spread kindness around the world through random acts of kindness with a special emphasis on bringing joy and comfort to pediatric cancer patients and their families. The K Club provides Lego sets to children in the hospital, K packs (care packs) to children under hospice care, and assists with funeral costs for children who have lost their battle with cancer. In order to achieve our fundraising goal this school year, we need your help-now more than ever. We trust that our tradition of outrageous generosity will continue. We are seeking volunteer Swine Week Royalty. This is an opportunity for your child to commit to raising money for our chosen recipient through the selling of t-shirts, individually packaged pastries, collection of auction items, writing letters, and much more. Students get involved with the school and community, gaining valuable skills along the way. Swine Week Royalty applications are available outside of the student council room (257). Please turn-in your Royalty application by November 13th outside of the StuCo room #257.
