July 29, 2020

Dear EPS Families,

I wanted to reach out today to briefly address a question that we have received many times today that has to do with Virtual Edmond.

Last night’s decision by the Board of Education to begin the school year on August 20th with a blended model of instruction does not mean that the district is forgoing its commitment to also provide a full virtual learning option for students. Virtual Edmond is still a choice and one that nearly 3,000 families have already made.

The date to transfer to Virtual Edmond ends Thursday, July 30th at 5 p.m. Unfortunately, the deadline cannot be extended. Hiring and training teachers in this education delivery method must commence immediately if we are to be sufficiently prepared on August 20th.

We are in the process of contacting every family who has transferred to Virtual Edmond. If you have not received a phone call or email yet, you should within the next week. You will be contacted before school starts.

If you have filled out a transfer form for Virtual Edmond, but have changed your mind because you feel comfortable sending your child to school in the blended A/B model, you can revoke that transfer. Just send an email to virtual.edmond@edmondschools.net. and let us know in writing your child’s name and your desire to keep your enrollment as it was.

Thank you for your time. Until my next communication, take care of yourself and each other.

Sincerely,

Bret Towne
