Joseph Jerad (JJ) Ruff from Edmond Memorial High School was the recipient of the James T Rohan Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is named in honor of Jimmy Rohan, a senior in the Class of 1993 at Edmond Memorial High School. The purpose of this award is not simply to honor the memory of Jimmy, but in doing so, to recognize the achievements of past, present and future of an outstanding senior at EMHS. Funds have been contributed by Jimmy’s family and friends to the Edmond Public Schools Foundation. The requirements for the scholarship were based upon the qualities and characteristics that Jimmy exhibited and stood for including: personal motivation and character, education plans and goals, personal activities and interests and activities contributed to school and community.
The chair of the committee said, “We felt his academic achievements, athletics, service, and overall character best represent our understanding of the James T. Rohan Memorial Scholarship.”
JJ will be attending Wheaton College in Illinois this fall where he will be majoring in Applied Health Science. His goal is to become an Orthopedic Surgeon, specializing in sports medicine. Congratulations, JJ!
